Spilled Coffee All Over My Laptop and Lied About It

So here's the thing. I'm this freelance writer who works from home, and I swear, sometimes my day just turns into one big mistake after another. Today was no exception. Got up, made myself some coffee to get started early on that big project due next week. My client is really pushing me for a quick turnaround, so there's a lot of pressure hanging over my head like a storm cloud. Sitting at my desk, I had this great idea while I was sipping my hot drink. Then it happened, I accidentally knocked over the coffee mug onto my laptop keyboard. Coffee went everywhere, inside the machine, on the documents strewn about my workspace, and my heart just sank. Total panic mode. The worst part is that my computer is an old one from years back and repairing it isn't exactly in my budget. So, I had to make a quick decision: let my client know or try to bluff my way through with another laptop? I couldn't afford downtime on this project; the client would be pissed if they found out. My hand was shaking so much from both adrenaline and fear that it took me a few minutes just to type an email about how I had a personal emergency and needed an extension, nothing even hinting at what actually happened. Now, here's where the guilt comes in. For hours, all I could think of was whether they'd figure out my little fib. What if they found out that I couldn't handle something so simple as keeping coffee away from electronics? The whole day has been ruined by this lie and the fear it brought on. And let’s not forget, now I need to start looking for a new laptop which wasn’t exactly in the plan. So here I am, confessing my little mishap and wondering how long it'll take me to feel okay about it again.
