Kids Are Great, But Oh My Gosh Do They Drive Me Crazy Sometimes!

So, hi there. I’m the mom of two little ones, a four-year-old and a two-year-old. Today was one of those days where they just don’t want to sleep at naptime no matter what you try, books, songs, stuffed animals, dark room...nothing works. I got so frustrated that I ended up lying down next to them on the floor, whispering, “Okay, okay, we’ll all just stay awake together” just so I could get five minutes of peace. Then I found myself making silly faces at a wall and whispering, “Boo-boo boo-boo boo,” trying to coax my little one into sleep mode. In another moment of defeat, I admitted that I secretly wish they had some kind of magical ‘sleep button’ we could just press when things get too wild. But despite all the crazy stuff that happens, there’s also this amazing part where you see them laughing and playing together, and it feels like nothing else matters. It’s hard to describe how much love butts up against exasperation on a daily basis, but I guess that’s just parenting in a nutshell.
