Patient Confidentiality Oops

I’m a nurse, and yesterday I made a mistake that’s been bothering me ever since. I was updating patient charts in the hallway outside their rooms, but I got so distracted by an urgent text from my sister that I accidentally left some patient notes lying on top of a nearby printer. It wasn’t until later when another nurse came to ask about her own missing chart that I realized what happened and where the papers went. This isn’t like me at all, I’m usually meticulous with confidentiality, so why did this happen? Is it normal to have these occasional lapses in focus? Should I be more careful next time or is everyone human sometimes?
