A Little Night Lie

I work nights at this sleepy convenience store, and it’s not exactly an adventure. I swear every night is just like the one before. Last week, though, I was supposed to start my shift at midnight but ended up missing a bus and being late. So when the customer on duty called, asking if anyone could open up because she had an emergency, I totally fibbed about not having my keys. It’s not like it’s the first time something like this happened, and hey, at least it wasn’t a total lie since by then I was sort of locked out. But still, just another day in the life of someone who can't seem to manage their mornings.
