New to Knitting

So I recently started knitting and it's kind of addicting but also frustrating. You know how people talk about feeling a connection with the yarn or something? Yeah, not really me. But I do like having this big ball of wool on my lap while watching TV at night. It’s just...it feels good to be doing something, even if I’m still figuring out basic stitches and all. Anyway, so today I was making a scarf for myself and ended up with more holes than actual knitting. My friend Lisa tried to help me but she laughed too much to actually teach anything useful. So now my scarf looks like a weird patchwork of attempts. And the funny thing is, when I showed it to her later, she started laughing again, not in a mean way though. I think if there's one good thing about this whole situation it’s that knitting is supposed to be relaxing and that’s sort of true, even with my mistakes. It’s just that sometimes the frustration feels too real for me to ignore.
