When My Teenager's Friends Don't Want to Come Home
Anonymous Flirty Flirt #922 · General
So here’s the thing, I feel like I’m losing my footing a bit. Lately, whenever Sarah’s friends come over to our house, they’re polite and nice enough, but there’s an undercurrent of discomfort or disinterest in hanging around at home after we’ve finished dinner or whatever activity we were doing. They all seem more comfortable going back to their own homes or heading somewhere else instead. It makes me wonder if I’m somehow coming across as less cool or welcoming than other parents. I try my best to provide snacks and a comfy space for them, but maybe it’s just not enough. Should I be offering something different? Is this normal for kids at Sarah’s age (16) to want to go home after spending time with her? It feels like I’m missing out on some kind of bond or connection that could help me understand my kid better and keep the lines of communication open. Any advice from parents who’ve been there?
