My Little Mistake At The Office

I’ve been feeling pretty guilty about something I did at work last week. We had a big meeting with our company’s CEO and everyone was on their best behavior, but then it happened. In the middle of an important presentation, I accidentally hit the wrong button on my computer and sent out a prank email to the entire team. The subject line said, 'Urgent: Termination Notice.' Of course, no one thought it was funny at all. My heart sank when everyone started looking at me with wide eyes and concerned expressions. I quickly tried to clarify that it was just a technical glitch but, let’s face it, I’m the IT guy. How did this happen? I’ve been so stressed about my job lately that maybe sending out ridiculous emails is how my subconscious decided to relieve some tension. The thing is, now everyone looks at me differently during meetings and it feels like they might be thinking 'Oh great, there goes the IT guy again with his screw-ups.' It’s been eating away at me for days and I’m worried that this one mistake will follow me around. Can you believe how something so small can suddenly feel so big?
