A White Lie To A Crush

I have this guy in my homeroom, let’s call him Max. We’ve been friends forever, but I started to realize there might be a little something extra there recently. Anyway, we were talking about our weekend plans last week, and he mentioned having this big project coming up at work. So here’s the thing: I don’t really have much going on, but when he asked if I could hang out, I told him I had to study for my midterm that doesn't exist yet. In that moment, it felt like a total lie because all I wanted was to say yes and see where things would go. But then again, maybe having an excuse to bail isn’t so bad after all, maybe next time I'll be more prepared.
