Forgot I Wasn't Local

So here's my new city story that I've been trying hard not to tell anyone because it feels so stupid. A few weeks after moving in, I started chatting with a group of local dog owners at the park where I go regularly with my pup, Luna. They were all super friendly and welcoming, definitely made the transition easier on me. But one day, someone asked if I'd been to this really cool new cafe they just opened downtown, and without thinking, I said 'Oh yeah! It's fantastic!' And then there was that awkward moment where everyone looked at each other like, 'Uh oh.' I knew right away what had happened because Luna let out a playful bark as if to say, 'Yeah, we've been there since the grand opening, silly human!' Turns out, it was my first time even driving by the place. And now every time someone asks me about new spots in town, I just nod and smile while mentally cursing myself for my quick-to-answer mouth. Lesson learned: never pretend to be a city expert until you've actually explored it thoroughly.
