New City Blues

I just moved to this city last week, and I'm already feeling like a total outsider. The grocery store checkout line is always so slow here, making me feel impatient, even though it's not really anyone else's fault. I end up grabbing random items from the impulse rack because I can't stand waiting around. Plus, my old friend back home told me that everyone here talks about the weather like it’s their favorite TV show. So now every time someone asks how I’m doing, I mention if it’s sunny or rainy to fit in. Today a neighbor said they were going out for coffee and asked if I wanted to come along, but all I could think was 'No, actually, just found this awesome thrift store yesterday that's like my new hobby.' Now everyone probably thinks I'm a weirdo. Moving isn't easy, and sometimes it feels like trying to start over from scratch on the moon.
