My Midnight Mayhem at Work

Anonymous Smitten Gossip #484 · General

So I'm this night-shift worker at this small warehouse. It's super quiet and most nights are just counting inventory and staring at the clock for hours on end. But tonight, things were a bit different. My boss decided to send me out of my comfort zone by making me handle all these fragile electronics packages that had somehow accumulated overnight and needed sorting before morning delivery trucks came in. I was supposed to be careful, but let's just say I get easily distracted when I have too much caffeine and not enough sleep. So I start stacking these boxes on top of each other way higher than any tower should go. And then, like a domino effect, one box goes and everything else follows. Imagine the crash that echoed through this quiet building in the middle of the night, it was like a mini earthquake! All those fragile electronics, smashed into pieces. I froze for a second before trying to clean up what I could while my heart pounded. I had to work fast because morning shift would be here any minute now. I ended up lying and saying that someone must have broken in overnight and done this damage. Maybe it was the panic talking, but I felt pretty clever when they believed me. Now every time I see those empty spaces where all those boxes used to sit, I feel a little guilty, but mostly just amused at how quickly things can go from boring to chaotic.
