Why I Let Them Stay Up All Night Last Weekend

So last weekend, my teenagers were begging to have a sleepover party in their room. They said it was just going to be them, but you know how kids are, once they get an inch, they'll take a mile. But here's the thing: I didn't really care about the rules anymore. You see, lately, all my nagging and enforcing boundaries has felt like a losing battle. And there were moments when I just wanted to throw in the towel and let them have their fun for once. So, I did. I told them they could stay up all night watching movies and playing video games. They were so happy! But here's the twist: it ended up being more peaceful than I expected. They went to bed at a decent hour anyway because apparently, staying up late is overrated when you have school in the morning. I felt like such a rebel letting them stay up all night and then got pleasantly surprised by how well they behaved afterwards. Maybe this is what it means to let go as a parent, just accept that sometimes, kids will surprise you in unexpected ways.
