A Little White Lie About My Job
Anonymous Cunning Rascal #523 · General
I've been a stay-at-home parent for the past five years, and I love it. But every time someone asks how work is going, I feel this twinge of guilt in my chest when I fib about getting some writing done on the side or starting a small craft business. It's just easier to pretend that my day-to-day is filled with something more productive than folding laundry and teaching the alphabet to toddlers. And now that everyone knows me as just 'the parent at home,' it feels like they wouldn't understand if I confessed to lying about work, even if it was nothing major. The truth is, sometimes I wish someone would see how much hard work being a full-time caregiver really is.
