My Silly Lie to Keep Peace at Home

Hey everyone! So here's this thing that happened the other day. You know how sometimes you just want everything to be calm and peaceful? Yeah, me too. My older sister had this big project for school due soon, and I knew she was stressing about it all week. One evening when we were eating dinner, my parents asked her if she'd started working on it yet. She said yes, but truth is, she hadn't even cracked a book open since Sunday. Now, instead of pointing out that my sister had been hiding under the blankets watching Netflix and texting friends instead of studying (which would've probably ended in major family drama), I chimed in and told them she was actually doing great. 'Oh yeah,' I said, 'she started working on it this morning!' The next day, my mom found out her laptop had been used to stream movies the entire time my sister claimed she was studying. Of course, there was no denying it at that point. My lie didn't help in the long run, but man did I feel good keeping a little peace and quiet for one more night! Sometimes lying feels like a small price to pay just so everyone can relax without drama.
