When I Forgot About My Teenager's School Play, Oops

Anonymous Guilty Wildcard #562 · General

So yeah, last week my kid was in this big school play thingy. And you know how parents are supposed to fill out some kind of volunteer slip and sign up for snacks or whatever? Well, naturally, being the awesome parent that I am, I forgot all about it. One day passes, then two, and suddenly there's a flurry of emails from the school, asking if I've signed up yet. I was like, 'Uh oh, maybe they just sent me the email twice?' So I don't sign up for anything, thinking maybe this whole thing is some kind of joke or something. Anyway, long story short, it turns out there's actually a deadline and stuff. So I'm sitting at my computer one night, trying to figure out how to send an apologetic email with a snack offer in 20 seconds before midnight when the deadline is up. And you know what? It turns out they still need volunteers for setup on the morning of the play. But who's going to be there super early at six AM? Not me, that’s for sure. But hey, this isn't really about me or my lack of planning skills. It's more about how I ended up talking to another parent in the parking lot while we were both trying to make last-minute snack runs. You know what they say, when you’re in a rush and stressed out over something small like that, it’s surprising who you end up chatting with. And for once, it wasn’t just about kids or homework.
