I Broke My Dad's Favorite Spoon While Distracted During Dinner

So here’s something I did recently that I’ve been feeling pretty guilty about. You know how sometimes you’re so lost in your own thoughts during dinner that you don’t really pay attention to what you’re doing with your hands? Well, my dad has this one spoon he loves using, his favorite, and it’s always the first utensil he reaches for when we eat at home. I was mindlessly twirling pasta and playing around a bit more than usual tonight because I had a lot on my mind from work. The next thing I knew, there was a loud clatter, and my dad's spoon lay in pieces all over the floor. It’s one of those little mishaps that feel huge at the time, like someone might as well have put a spotlight on me and announced it to the table. I cleaned up right away, but the damage is done. The funny thing is, even though I’m still ruminating on this moment now, my dad has actually been pretty understanding about it. He said something along the lines of ‘I’ve broken enough things in my day too,’ which sort of took me by surprise and made me feel a bit better about the whole situation.
