i was a helicopter parent

hey everyone i am kinda embarrassed but i have been acting like such a helicopter parent for my kids lately. always checking on them to see what they are doing, making sure they eat healthy food and get enough sleep every night. i feel bad because it seems like i trust them less than their friends’ parents do. is this normal or should i just back off? how far should i let go without freaking out? any advice would be appreciated!
