...i did something stupid.

so i'm 26 and have been working at this small firm for a year now. everyone here is super nice but also kind of boring, you know? it's just one of those places where there isn't much going on after work hours unless someone hosts a board game night or whatever. i've got a few friends outside of work that i talk to and stuff, but for the most part, my coworkers are the people i see daily. there’s this guy at work named jake who's been here for years longer than me, probably since before i was even born. he’s married with kids and all but always seems like a bit of a jokester, cracking jokes during meetings or whatever. anyway, last week we had one of our usual team-building activities where everyone brought in snacks to share and stuff. jake came early with a bunch of donuts which was nice 'cause it meant i got some before they ran out. later that day though, i overheard him complaining about how annoying it is when someone takes more than their fair share during these things. so naturally, the next snack day comes around and everyone brings in stuff, but i bring in like 20 cookies just to prove a point, right? yeah, major mistake. sure enough jake ends up with only one or two cookies even though he was there first. i don't know why i did it, maybe because he's always complaining or something. now everyone's looking at me weird and it’s pretty awkward. jake gave me this look that says 'why would you do that?' but didn’t say anything to my face. now every time we have one of these things i feel like everyone is watching what i take, which wasn't the point of doing it in the first place.
