i hate my houseplant

my plant is always asking me for water when i just want to chill on the couch. it's like it has a voice and says stuff like 'hey you forgot about me! don't you care?' tonight as i was walking by, it looked so happy drinking its water but then leaned over and spilled half of it all over my new rug. now there are these weird stains and smells. i know it's just water but it feels like a message. do plants even deserve the effort? 🤔
