At the Office...

I have this coworker who's always trying to one-up everyone. She's constantly bringing in fancy snacks for the team meetings, and it drives me insane because I hate feeling like she's showing off or that everyone thinks she's cooler than the rest of us just because she can afford expensive treats. The other day, I accidentally brought in a bag of cheap candy instead of whatever gourmet chocolate I was supposed to get. And you know what? It wasn't even about proving her wrong; it was more like... I didn't care anymore. I walked into that meeting with the candy bar and just shrugged off everyone's confused looks. But here's the kicker, I ended up really enjoying my candy, even if no one else got any. I felt a strange sense of victory... or maybe it was just relief? Either way, it made me realize how silly all this competition feels when you step back from it...
