I Ruined My Sister's Surprise Birthday Party

Last weekend, my sister was supposed to have a surprise birthday party at this trendy new café downtown. I knew about it because I was helping plan it and everyone involved had sworn me to secrecy. But here’s the kicker: I couldn’t keep quiet. A few days before her birthday, I accidentally blurted out everything to her in a phone call while we were talking about something totally unrelated! She asked if there was going to be cake (she has this thing for chocolate cake), and somehow it all came tumbling out of my mouth. Of course, the whole plan had to be scrapped because now she knew exactly what everyone else was planning. I felt like such a terrible sister that day. Now we’re thinking about doing something small at home instead, but there’s no getting back those weeks of hard work and effort by everyone involved. I still feel so guilty and wish I could turn back time to keep my mouth shut.
