Maybe It Wasn't Such A Good Idea To Make My Own Socks

I was feeling proud when I made my grandson his first pair of socks for his birthday. But now he only wears them around the house and they keep coming back with holes all over from him kicking the furniture. Maybe it wasn’t such a good idea after all? Shouldn't have used that cheap yarn, but it seemed like a great bargain at the time. Now I’m worried that my grandchildren think their old grandma doesn't know how to sew proper socks. What if they don't want me to try making them anything else anymore? Do you think it's too late to fix these and make new ones for his birthday next year?
