Growing Up Too Fast

So I was at the mall with my kids today and something hit me like a ton of bricks. You know how you go to buy groceries and there's all these toys on sale in the checkout aisle? Well, as we were leaving, my older one wanted to look at some manga because their friend loaned them some volumes over the weekend. And then suddenly it struck me - they're not little kids anymore. They're into anime and video games now, stuff I barely understand half the time. It made me feel old, you know? Like we've been too busy just getting through day-to-day life that somehow my babies are turning into teenagers with their own interests and friends. And before I could even ask them what they want for dinner or if they did their homework, there it was - another moment gone by in the blink of an eye. Saddest part is, tomorrow's just going to be more of the same routine, but every day feels like one less chance to relive those simpler days.
