when i ate all my roommate's snacks

so yeah i moved into this dorm like a month ago and my roomie just got here a week ago. total chill dude, we get along great. but there’s one thing that gets me every time - he keeps bringing home these super tasty potato chips. i swear it’s some fancy brand with lots of seasoning and it just smells so good! so anyway last night, i’m hungry as hell and poking around in the fridge looking for something when i find a bag under his side of the desk. thought “heh well if he knows they’re there, maybe i can just take one little bite?” but once i opened it and got that smell? couldn’t resist and ended up eating like half the bag. felt bad as hell but was too embarrassed to say anything so i just kinda pretended nothing happened all night. this morning we bump into each other at breakfast and he’s totally confused why there are only a few crumbs left when normally they’d be gone before opening day. now every time i look at him, i feel this gnawing guilt and he’s giving me these weird looks back like “what did i do wrong?” it’s been driving me nuts all day but just can’t bring myself to fess up even though i know deep down i should. anyone ever pull something similar or am i the asshole here?
