The Power of Persuasion (or So I Think)

Last week at work, we were short-staffed and my project deadline was looming. Instead of taking a sick day or admitting I needed help, I decided to play the 'sick' card but with a twist, I called in for a 'family emergency.' When my boss asked if it could wait until after the weekend, I assured her it couldn't and that everything would be fine by Monday. Of course, there was no real family crisis; just me trying to buy time to meet a deadline without burning out. It felt like cheating, but hey, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
