Sometimes I'm Not Honest About My Day

So here's the thing, I work from home as a freelancer, and sometimes it feels like I need to put on this act of productivity for my family. You know how people say you should be strict with your work hours? Well, in my case, even when those designated hours have passed, I'm still sitting at my desk thinking, 'Just one more email, just another quick thing.' And then there's the constant tapping and clacking that keeps the kids out of the office area, so they never know if I’m truly working or secretly binge-watching a show. Last weekend, when my sister was visiting for her birthday, I felt really bad about it. She caught me watching a silly comedy instead of catching up on work while I said I had to finish some things. I ended up telling her it was just another productive day, which is kind of the opposite of what happened. It's funny because she knows how much I love that show and probably guessed I wasn't being completely honest. But still, every time I catch myself in this lie, it leaves me feeling a bit empty inside.
