I Accidentally Took My Colleague's Lunch From The Fridge...Oops?
Anonymous Sneaky Flirt #312 · General
So here’s the deal... I work at this small retail shop and we all share a mini fridge for our lunches. There’s me, Sarah, Mike, and then there’s Emily, she started recently, so we’re still getting to know her. Well, today was one of those days when you just want your lunch more than usual, ya know? I woke up late this morning, missed breakfast at home... I got to work feeling pretty grumpy and starved. As soon as I walked in, the first thing that caught my eye was a wrapped sandwich sitting right out front on top of the fridge. It looked good... really good. And there’s been talk about Emily being new and trying to fit in with everyone. Plus, she usually takes her lunch home instead of putting it in the shared fridge... So I thought maybe this time she just needed a boost and left it out for someone like me who always seems ravenous around 3 PM... So I unwrapped it and took my first bite, then the next, and suddenly I was halfway through the sandwich before I even realized what was happening. That’s when Sarah came in... and saw me eating her lunch. Turns out she had made an extra batch of cookies for everyone to share, except they weren’t exactly meant for everyone. She bought them for Emily as a welcome gift, which is super sweet. So now I’m just sitting here, sandwich half-eaten, with Sarah staring at me like I have horns...and Mike trying not to laugh and ask what the hell happened next. I mean, it was totally an honest mistake, but everyone’s giving me these looks like I don’t belong in the fridge anymore. And Emily is coming back any second from her lunch break... I could try to explain that I thought she left it out for me or something...but would that even make sense? In a way, though, if Sarah really wanted us all to share, maybe taking someone else’s food isn’t so bad after all? But then again, this was Emily’s gift and now they’re probably mad at both of us. So here I am, with a slightly guilty conscience but not too worried about it. Maybe the next time I’m hungry around lunchtime, I’ll just take the sandwich... but seriously hope I don’t get caught next time. But then again, I might be the only one who’s ever seen me do this kind of thing. So maybe they won’t think less of me? ...
