Toddlers Are Like Teenagers but Shorter

So I thought moving from full-time work to being a stay-at-home parent for my two-year-old twins would be like a dream job or something. Turns out, it's more like babysitting my own children, they just don't care about the housework. They have their own agenda: snacks every five minutes, no sleep, constant demands that sound an awful lot like 'I want to do everything and you're supposed to entertain me 24/7.' And here I am, trying to remember what adult conversation feels like. The other day, they both had matching piles of books in their hands but only one could read, so it looked like a book-reading marathon was happening, except the reader kept swapping spots with the non-reader and got confused. It's exhausting. Oh, and the best part? They somehow manage to make sure there are always two toys on the floor at all times that need attention, even if they're not playing with them. I'm starting to think this parenting gig is less about nurturing and more about endurance training.
