When I Faked My Illness to Get Out of Work ...

So this happened last week in my college chemistry class. I've always been a pretty good student but honestly, organic molecules and formulas are just not my jam. This professor is also one of those strict types who has zero leniency when it comes to missed classes or assignments. So here's the thing: on Thursday morning, as soon as I realized we were starting chapter three, which is like total gibberish for me...I knew something had to change. I mean, how could I possibly stay awake through an hour of talking about alkanes and esters when all I really want is a nice hot cup of coffee and a nap? So I decided to take matters into my own hands, you know? I texted my roomie early that morning pretending I wasn't feeling too well. 'Stomach cramps,' I told her, because it sounded convincing enough without being too dramatic or anything. Then I packed up my stuff right before class and headed straight for the infirmary on campus...thinking maybe they could give me a sick note if anyone asked. They checked me over, but honestly, there was nothing wrong with me except an overwhelming need to avoid that lecture! Anyway, I spent most of the day in there reading novels and watching YouTube videos instead of dealing with chemistry formulas. The irony is, while I managed to skip class, my grades didn't get any better just because I wasn't there. But hey...at least it was a fun idea for an afternoon off, right? ...
