Forgot My Partner's Birthday

I completely forgot my partner’s birthday last week, and it feels like I’ve been carrying this heavy guilt ever since. It wasn’t that I was busy, just clueless, my phone is a graveyard of reminders for my own appointments, yet somehow his birthday slipped through. Now every time he looks at me with those expectant eyes, asking if we did anything special today, it hits me like a punch to the gut. Maybe next year, I’ll write it down in big letters on my calendar.
