I Was That Guy Who Broke the New Office Coffee Pot

So, I started my new job at this company about a week ago. It's been a bit of an adjustment, but honestly, it feels like any other place where people pretend to care about everyone else’s lives during morning meetings. Anyway, today was the first day we could use the brand-new office coffee machine that got installed last Friday, or so I thought. I arrived early this morning, just like usual, because apparently there's no such thing as punctuality when you're trying to make a good impression in the corporate world. When I saw the empty coffee pot, I assumed everyone had already filled it up before I got here, which honestly seemed plausible since the rest of my team always seems so ahead of me. But then, at 10:30 AM sharp (yes, I counted), our boss walked in and asked why we hadn't made any coffee yet. I felt a bit embarrassed but didn’t want to admit that I hadn't figured out how the machine worked, so I casually mentioned that there was no water left in it. My co-worker Sarah, bless her heart, immediately went to check the pot and returned with a horrified expression on her face, turns out, I had managed to break one of its delicate parts. It wasn’t a massive disaster or anything; more like an avoidable oversight that would have cost us just a little bit of time if someone had checked earlier. Now everyone’s treating me like I’m this clumsy oaf who can't even operate basic office equipment. Sure, it's funny to think about the morning panic and confusion we caused for no good reason, but also kind of embarrassing when you start your first job thinking you've got it all figured out. Anyway, here’s hoping my next mistake will be something a bit less visible. Or maybe I’ll just stick to coming in early so I can avoid any more awkward situations.
