i might be the asshole here

soooo there's this new kid at school named max and he's super cool and funny like everyone likes him but i've been friends with lily since like forever and she's my only real friend so it's kind of weird to have someone else around. one day we were all hanging out in the library cause that's our thing, and max was cracking jokes about how i always wear plaid shirts. he kept going on and i just got super annoyed like why does everyone think they can talk to me like this? so i told him off kinda loudly, said stuff like 'i don't have to listen to your dumb comments' and left before lily could even say anything. then she was all like 'what's wrong with you?' but i'm just so sick of people thinking they're better than me because they're new or whatever. but now max isn't talking to me at all and i feel kind of bad, especially cause it's my fault we aren't friends anymore even though lily still talks to him. but if he doesn't want to be around me then maybe that's okay too? im confused lol
