Been There, Done That

So here's the deal. I've been married for 20 years now and let me tell you, there are times when being a parent and partner feels like playing Jenga with an earthquake going on underneath. But lately, my wife has been into this whole idea of 'date nights.' Sounds sweet, right? Wrong. It's basically me buying wine and cheese while she puts together this intricate schedule of activities we both 'enjoy,' like pottery classes or yoga retreats that neither of us have time for but now feel obligated to do just to stay on her good side. Last week’s date night was baking cookies. Yeah, I know, cookies are supposed to be a treat, not a test. So here's my confession: I kind of hoped we'd both forget about it until the kids forced us to eat our way through a tin of store-bought chocolate chip cookies instead. Maybe next time she'll pick something less... educational.
