The Middle Child Sibling Woes

So, I'm the middle sibling in my family. I have an older sister and a younger brother. Growing up, it was always about balancing between their world and trying to find my own space. My sister is like the overachiever, with perfect grades and tons of friends, while my brother is just...the cute little baby who everyone spoils. I love them both so much, but sometimes I feel a bit squeezed out. One day, this became painfully clear when we had to do some family photos for grandma’s birthday. My mom set up the camera on a tripod and told us to stand in a line, me, my sister, then my brother. Everything was going well until she got distracted by something, left it on selfie mode with her face visible, and walked off. I saw this as an opportunity to get a candid photo of just me and my siblings without mom hovering over us. So I took the camera, snapped a quick pic, and posed my sister and brother into something cool and natural-looking. But then, in trying to adjust their clothes, my sister’s blazer was slightly crooked and my brother had grass stains on his jeans, I ended up pulling too hard. My sister got annoyed at me for messing with her outfit, and my brother started laughing uncontrollably, which only made him look even more ridiculous with the stains. My mom came back just as everything went haywire; she thought I was trying to make them look worse on purpose because I was jealous of how well they were doing in school and life. To be honest, it felt a bit like that at first. But now, looking back, it’s more the pressure of feeling stuck between two people who seem so together all the time. My sister's been extra nice about it since then, but I can’t help feeling like she thinks there was something in my eyes when this happened, that I want to be them or that I think they’re better off without me around. It’s just hard being a middle child sometimes. You're not the baby of the family getting all the attention, nor are you the firstborn who leads the way. And it's weird having those moments where everyone thinks they know your motivations because you were in the background most of the time.
