I Spilled the Beans (But Not Really)

Last week at work, my coworker Alex was telling us about his secret online gaming obsession. He was so excited to tell us that he thought it was something we'd all be into too. The thing is, I actually think online gaming can be really fun and cool, but I know from past experience how judgmental the rest of our team can be. So, when Alex started asking for opinions about his new strategy guide, I figured a little white lie wouldn't hurt anyone. I told him that I wasn't too big on games but that it was super interesting to hear him talk about it. After he left, another coworker asked me what I thought and I couldn't help myself, I fibbed and said I really did think it sounded lame. Of course, the second Alex heard this little rumor spreading, he went straight to me, all hurt and confused. I felt pretty guilty for a moment, but honestly, I kind of enjoyed keeping everyone on their toes. And who knows? Maybe next week they'll lighten up about online gaming and we can actually have some fun. So yeah, I lied, and maybe it wasn't the most ethical thing to do, but in my defense, it was a bit of harmless fun. Plus, sometimes you just gotta be a little defiant.
