... I'm Proud to Be Nocturnal ...

I work the graveyard shift at a convenience store... it's quiet, boring, but also kinda cool... I get to see the city at its most peaceful and empty... people come in looking for something, anything, different from their usual lives... they confide in me about their day, their dreams, their struggles... It's weirdly rewarding... People think night owls like us are lazy or just waiting for the sun to rise again... but we're not, we're living two steps ahead of everyone else... We know all the tricks and shortcuts others can't see until they experience them themselves... Sometimes I wonder what it'd be like if our world was everyone's reality instead of a lonely niche... Maybe one day people will realize night owls aren't just avoiding sleep, but are carving out their own slice of time to live life differently...
