Confessions of a Software Engineer

Anonymous Smitten Fox #934 · General

I've always prided myself on my technical prowess and logical thinking, but there's one thing I absolutely despise about working as a software engineer: the endless meetings. When everyone else is busy discussing project timelines or brainstorming sessions, I'm often sitting in a room trying to appear engaged while silently plotting how long it would take me to solve the problem if given a quiet space and my code editor instead of a PowerPoint presentation. The other day, during a particularly mind-numbing meeting about budget allocation, I couldn't resist. While everyone was busy nodding along or asking questions about expense reports, I quietly opened up a command-line interface on my laptop under the table to test some complex algorithms. It's probably not something my boss would appreciate if caught, but honestly, it's been my saving grace in many meetings. So, am I alone here? Is this just me being a rebel or is there anyone else who pulls out their technical tasks during work meetings?
