My Friend’s New Puppy Is Driving Me Insane

So, my best friend Sarah got a new puppy about three weeks ago. It was adorable at first, all floppy ears and tiny paws! But now it's becoming an absolute nightmare. Here’s the whole story leading up to my confession. I've been studying day and night for this dissertation proposal. There are times I have dreams in which every word is a thesis statement or a literature review section. My brain just doesn't stop thinking about it. Anyway, Sarah keeps stopping by with her new puppy, Max (yes, she named him Max like the movie). And while Max used to be cute and fun to play with for 20 minutes at a time, now he's completely taking over my life. The first issue was that I'm allergic to dog hair. Don't get me wrong, Sarah and I have known this since we were kids, but she just doesn’t believe in allergies or something. She says the puppy is hypoallergenic (but it's a mixed breed, who knows what's hypoallergenic about it?!) Anyway, every time Max comes over, my eyes start watering uncontrollably and I'm sneezing all day long. Then there’s the noise. Max barks non-stop! Sarah says he needs to be socialized early on (whatever that means), but seriously, how do you socialize a puppy by letting it bark for hours at nothing? It’s driving me mad, trying to focus on my research while hearing “WOOOF WOOOF” every three seconds. I’ve been asking her politely to take Max somewhere else when she comes over, but instead of respecting my boundaries, Sarah just laughs and brings him in anyway. To top it all off, Max keeps peeing in my apartment! He’s so tiny you’d think he couldn’t do much damage, but every time I turn around there's a little puddle somewhere. The other day, he peed on my keyboard, talk about ruining a thesis draft! I know Sarah loves her puppy and is just trying to be nice by bringing him over, but honestly, it’s become way too much for me. My life revolves around this dissertation now, and Max has turned into the bane of my existence. I really feel bad telling her off, because she's been a great friend through all of this, but seriously, if this keeps up, I might actually have to quit my program out of sheer frustration. Am I being unreasonable here? Can't people just understand that allergies are real and not fun?
