Sometimes I Forget My Own Age
Anonymous Charming Prowler #135 · General
Every night behind the bar, I find myself lost in conversations that seem to revolve around life stages and age-related milestones. The regulars come in with their stories of growing up fast or staying young at heart, and sometimes it makes me feel old, not just physically but emotionally too. Tonight was no different; a group came in talking about their teenage children's first dates and college applications. As I poured drinks and listened to the chatter, I found myself thinking about those years of my own life, when everything seemed so simple yet overwhelming at the same time. It’s funny how life moves forward but never really leaves you behind. The older I get, the more I find myself reminiscing about days that feel like a lifetime ago, filled with youthful naivety and endless possibilities. Yet here I am, navigating through adulthood with all its challenges and uncertainties, wondering where those years went. It’s not that I regret my choices; it's just sometimes I forget how much time has passed and miss the carefree spirit of youth. Every night ends with the same question lingering in my mind: Are we ever really done growing up? Or is it more about learning to embrace each stage with its own unique joys and challenges? Maybe tomorrow will bring a new perspective, but for now, I'll pour another round and let the rhythm of the bar help me find some peace.
