The Prank Gone Horribly Right

Hey everyone! So I'm this grad student working on my thesis in chemistry. Pretty serious stuff, right? But there was this one time when I decided to lighten things up with a little prank at our research lab. See, we had this annoying intern who thought he knew everything about the lab equipment even though he just started last month. I noticed his desk drawer was full of candy and pens, so I figured it would be funny to swap out all those items for some harmless but unusual things like a bottle of hair gel and a pack of expired cookies. It was supposed to be an innocent joke to get him to lighten up. Well, that intern came in early the next morning, and he was clearly confused when he tried opening his desk drawer, only to find everything out of place. I could hear him muttering something about how disorganized he felt. But then, here's where it got interesting. Another lab tech walked by, saw the intern digging through the drawer with a frustrated expression, and burst into laughter. Before I knew it, everyone in the lab was giving this poor guy a hard time, asking if he could find his coffee or pen to write notes for our important project. It went from a simple prank to something that made everyone feel better about their day. The intern eventually caught on that I did it, but by then, we were all bonding over how silly the situation was. I felt pretty good about myself at first, who doesn't enjoy some harmless fun? But now when I think back, I wonder if I should have just let him figure out his stuff for himself. It wasn't exactly kind-hearted, but it did bring us together as a team. Oh well, next time maybe I'll stick to something less invasive.
