I'm Not Always Perfect at Sibling Lies

So here's the thing, I'm the oldest and I try to set an example for my siblings. But sometimes it doesn't work out that way. Like last week, I told Mom I'd taken out the trash when I hadn't. The truth is, there was a massive bag of stinky garbage in the kitchen because I really didn't want to go out in the cold weather. So when she checked and found nothing, I just felt like an idiot for getting caught fibbing about it. I guess honesty isn’t always the best policy if you hate cold trash duty.
