Just Started Knitting... Oops?

So I just started knitting this week after seeing all these cute patterns online. But uh, turns out my hands are not nearly as coordinated for this kind of stuff as they are with drawing or playing the guitar. This morning I accidentally knitted a scarf that's actually a pillowcase now because it got too big and tangled up in knots. It looks like I've been tying shoelaces instead of knitting stitches, if you know what I mean. But here’s the thing, I don’t want to give up! Maybe with enough practice, my scarves will be cozy rather than comedic-looking? Anyone else have any funny stories about learning new skills and feeling like a beginner again?
