When I Spoke Up in Class for the First Time

Today was my first time raising my hand and speaking up during a lecture. It felt like everyone's eyes were on me, but surprisingly, it wasn't as bad as I imagined. Why is it that voicing an opinion feels harder than solving complex math problems? Does this feeling of initial discomfort fade with more practice, or does it always stay slightly nerve-wracking? Anyone else out there feel the same way about speaking up in class?
