Late Shift Blues

Every night when I clock out at 7 AM and walk into the empty parking lot under a pale sky, I feel like I'm in a parallel world. No one else is awake or going about their day. It's just me, the faint lights of closed businesses, and my thoughts wandering back to an evening that already feels like days ago. Tonight, while taking a break from scanning shelves, I found a note someone had slipped under the door, a kind message reminding me that even in this lonely shift, there are people thinking about me. It made me smile for a moment but also brought a lump to my throat. I miss the sun.
