...I May Be The Worst Parent Ever...

So there I was last night...tucking my teenagers into bed after one of those days where it feels like they're going through the motions but not really engaging with anything. My eldest, Mia, she's sixteen now and such a good kid. And my youngest, Ethan, he's fifteen and oh man, just all over the place emotionally these days...anyway, so I'm in their room helping them get ready for bed when Mia asks me if we've ever watched Stranger Things together as a family because they're on the last season now and she wants to know if it'd be okay to binge-watch it this weekend. Ethan's already got his eyes glued to his phone...totally oblivious. I was like, hmm, that could be fun for the whole family! And maybe we'll finally get some bonding time too. So I start thinking about all the great times Mia and I have had together but Ethan kind of drifting off on his own path lately... Anyway, then out pops this idea...what if I secretly set up a Netflix party with my friends? You know, those virtual watch parties where everyone can chat during the movie? So I texted a few close friends to see who's interested and they all think it sounds great! We could all join in on Saturday night for some friendly chatter while we binge-watch Stranger Things. But now I'm here, sitting at my desk with a huge smile on my face...I mean, isn't this just the most brilliant idea ever?! Or am I being way too over-the-top as a parent? It feels like such a fun surprise but also could it be considered a little bit of meddling or controlling our kids' lives? So here's where you come in, dear internet strangers. What do you think? Am I being a good mom by trying to keep everyone connected and having fun together? Or am I totally overstepping my boundaries and need to take a step back from planning every single moment of family time...
