I Never Got To Say Goodbye

It's funny how sometimes you can spend your whole life chasing after something that feels so important and then... it just doesn’t happen. Last year, my great-aunt Lila was getting really old and we all knew she wouldn't be around forever. But I kept putting off visiting her because I thought “I still have time”. In the end, it was a day too late. She passed away before I could get to see her again. We had been close when I was younger but as I grew up and got busier with college stuff, we drifted apart a bit... until she wasn't there anymore. It’s such a small thing now but every time I walk past the pictures of our family gatherings, it reminds me that sometimes you have to make time for the people who matter. Just feels like an unspoken sadness lingering over what could’ve been.
