I Spilled My Best Friend's Secret to the Whole Class

Yesterday in chemistry class, I accidentally spilled my best friend Lily’s big secret. We were working on an experiment and she confided that she had been trying really hard to quit social media but was struggling with it. Unfortunately, while we were talking, I got a text from her brother asking if he could borrow the car for the weekend. Without thinking, I loudly said 'Lily’s not going to be happy about this' and then told the class that Lily was trying to quit social media but still used her account behind my back. Everyone laughed at how hypocritical it seemed. As soon as I realized what had happened, I felt sick with guilt. Lily trusts me so much and I completely betrayed her privacy. We have been such close friends for years, but now she’s going to hate me forever. I’ve been trying to think of a way to make this right, but the damage is done and there’s no erasing what I did.
