white lies and coffee

i got caught making a huge pot of coffee when i was supposed to be just making tea for the family brunch on sunday. it looked like we were expecting company or something, but honestly, i just love coffee way more than tea and couldn't resist. mom gave me this look and asked why there was so much extra coffee if no one else was drinking it. i lied and said everyone had a little taste of the morning brew and wanted seconds throughout the day. i could tell she didn't believe me but pretended to, probably because she knows my weakness for caffeine as well as i do. truth is, by 3pm that afternoon i'd drunk half the pot myself. i'm not sorry one bit.
