The Great Pumpkin Mystery...

Last Halloween, I hid a pumpkin in our attic and told everyone we had already put it out for carving when we really hadn't gotten around to it yet... The look on their faces was priceless, but now they're never going to trust any holiday story from me ever again... Was this just a harmless prank or am I being too over-the-top? What would you do in my shoes....
