Tattling Is So Overrated

I caught my 7-year-old sneaking a soda at bedtime last night and instead of scolding him like the good parent I should be, I joined him. We had a secret midnight snack party with popcorn and chocolate too. It felt liberating, breaking our own rules for once. Was it really so wrong to have fun together? Is there anything worse than being strict all the time? Should I tell him he can't do this again, or is it okay just this one time?
